Wax Stash — surf wax container

Sizing & fit

Which Wax Stash fits my wax?

Each shape is sized to fit a specific wax brand:

  • Round — fits Sex Wax (Quick Humps) and Fu Wax
  • Square — fits Sticky Bumps
  • Rectangle — fits Sticky Johnson and standard rectangular bars

What are the internal dimensions?

If you use a different brand or just want to check before ordering:

  • Round: 73mm diameter × 22mm deep
  • Square: 71.5mm × 71.5mm × 21mm deep
  • Rectangle: 83mm × 59mm × 23mm deep

Will other wax brands fit?

Most wax brands follow standard sizing, so there's a good chance yours will fit. We only guarantee the brands listed above because those are the ones we've personally tested. If you find a great match we haven't listed, tag us on Instagram.

Performance & durability

Is it really non-stick?

Yes. The Wax Stash is made from flexible TPU rather than hard plastic. If your wax melts inside, it won't bond to the walls — once it cools, just flex the sides and it pops straight out. No digging, no scraping.

Can I leave it in a hot car?

The TPU material absorbs heat more slowly than cardboard, so your wax will take longer to melt — but it will still melt in extreme heat. What the Stash does is contain it completely, so nothing leaks onto your seats or gear. Keep it out of direct sunlight where you can, and if it does melt, leave it to cool fully before popping it out.

The wax recycler

Can I melt old wax scraps in the Stash?

Yes — this is one of the best ways to use it. Collect your leftover pieces, drop them in the Stash, and leave it in the sun for 20–30 minutes until they melt together. Once cooled, flex the sides and they pop out as a solid block. Ready to use, nothing wasted.

For a cleaner result, check out the full wax recycling guide — it walks you through melting scraps into a fresh puck in the oven at 60°C.

Care & maintenance

How do I clean it?

Rinse with water and a little dish soap. For stubborn sand, let any wax residue cool and harden completely first, pop it out, then wipe the interior with a clean cloth.

Will the printed label fade?

The temperature label is printed directly into the material during production, not applied as a sticker, so it won't peel or wash off with normal use.

Can I put it in the dishwasher?

We'd recommend hand washing. The TPU handles heat well, but repeated dishwasher cycles could affect the print over time.

Surf wax

How do I wax a surfboard?

Apply a basecoat to a clean, dry board first, then follow with a temperature-specific topcoat. Use firm circular strokes across the full deck until you can see visible bumps. For the full step-by-step, including how to choose the right temperature and how to remove old wax, read our guide to waxing a surfboard.

How do I know which temperature wax to use?

Match the wax to your water temperature, not the air temperature. A general guide:

  • Tropical — 24°C and above
  • Warm — 18–24°C
  • Cool — 14–21°C
  • Cold — 16°C and below

For most of New Zealand, a cool water wax is the right choice through autumn, winter, and spring.
